Felting for Mothers Day

Posted by: gtwo on: Monday, 6 April, 2009

Inspired by my first simple felting shapes, I decided to try and create something different. Mother’s Day was looming and I thought I would make some cards.

I layered woolen fibre on my foam mat and initially used the needle felting tool with 4 needles to mesh the fibres together. I didn’t want the fibres to mesh together completely into a solid felted piece, so I then used a single felting needle and worked on the edges of my fibres to create a rectangular shape with bands of colour across it.

This would be felted scene, as I believed it had become, needed some sort of flowering plant and thus the purple budded bush grew (I mean was felted) to adorn the landscape !

I then mounted the “landscape” to a square card, using a glue which would become transparent when dry, just in case it could be seen through the fibres.
